You want a PSU-linked apprenticeship and your qualification matches one of the notified trades. This is especially useful for candidates in engineering, HR, finance, nursing, pharmacy, COPA and other listed streams who are open to project-based locations rather than one fixed city.
You are looking for a permanent NHPC job right now, need guaranteed hometown posting, or have already undergone apprenticeship training of one year or more. Candidates who do not want to complete the NATS or NAPS registration step first should also not leave this for the last minute.
| Category | Trade Level | Typical Qualification | Stipend Snapshot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Graduate Apprentice | Degree / PG-linked trades | Engineering, HR, Finance, PR, Rajbhasha, Nursing, Physiotherapy and similar notified trades | Mostly Rs. 15,000 per month |
| Diploma Apprentice | Diploma trades | Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, E&C, Nursing, Pharmacy, X-Ray and similar trades | Rs. 13,500 per month |
| ITI Apprentice | ITI trades | Electrician, Plumber, Fitter, Machinist, Welder, Carpenter, COPA and similar trades | Rs. 12,000 per month |
Graduate Apprentice trades: These include Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, E&C, Computer Science, HR Executive, Finance Executive, PR Executive, Rajbhasha Assistant, Nursing Assistant and Physiotherapy Assistant. Most of these carry a stipend of Rs. 15,000 per month. However, one easy-to-miss detail is that Supervisor (HR) is also listed in the notice but carries Rs. 13,500, so candidates should not assume every graduate-level entry in the PDF has the same stipend.
Diploma Apprentice trades: This category covers engineering as well as selected health-related diploma lines such as Nursing, Pharmacy and X-Ray Technology. It suits candidates who want one year of structured apprenticeship exposure in a PSU setting rather than an immediate permanent appointment.
ITI Apprentice trades: This is the practical trade route for candidates from Electrician, Plumber, Fitter, Machinist, Welder, Carpenter and Computer Operator and Programming Assistant backgrounds. The bigger decision point here is location flexibility, because vacancies are spread across different NHPC units instead of one campus.

The official NHPC notice gives trade-wise stipend, not one common salary. Most Graduate Apprentice trades carry Rs. 15,000 per month. Supervisor (HR) is listed at Rs. 13,500. Diploma Apprentice trades carry Rs. 13,500, and ITI trades carry Rs. 12,000.
The notice also states that for Graduate and Diploma apprentices under the NATS scheme, the listed amount is inclusive of DBT support. Another practical plus is that shared bachelor accommodation may be provided, and where it is not provided, the notice mentions an additional Rs. 2,500 per month. That improves the real value of the apprenticeship for candidates posted away from home, but it still remains a training engagement and not a permanent NHPC appointment.
The official notice clearly states that there will be no interview. Eligible candidates will be selected on a merit basis using qualification-linked weightage rules for each apprentice category.
For Graduate Apprentices, merit uses weightage from 10th class, 12th or diploma where applicable, and the relevant engineering, graduation or PG aggregate. For Diploma and ITI categories, the selection weightage is built from 10th marks and the respective diploma or ITI performance. The notice also gives preference first to project affected families, then to district candidates, then to the concerned State or UT, before wider consideration.
